THE ITALIAN STUDIES MINOR
The Italian Studies minor program requires the completion of the lower division preparation courses (Italian 1-6, Italian 20X) and a total of 20 UD units from the Italian program.
In 2018-19 a revision of the minor was approved and implemented: all the required courses for the NEW Italian minor are NOW taught in Italian! The NEW minor is therefore geared towards students who want to perfect their linguistic skills, their knowledge of the way a language works in different media (literature, film, travel, etc…), and also learn about and practice the art of translation.
Students who have entered the minor program under the old minor requirements or started UCSB in any year before 2019-20 will be allowed to choose between completing the old or the NEW minor.
