Marion Phillips is a Lecturer of French. She enjoys creating new courses to share French language, literature, art and culture with her students. At UCSB she teaches French language courses, Business French, Time Off in Paris and French for Reading for Graduate Students. She earned her PhD in French from UC Berkeley with a designated emphasis in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies. Her dissertation, entitled “Colette, Leduc, Despentes: The Ordinary, the Failed, and the Abject,” explores women’s writing and queerness from Third Republic France to the present day. She has also taught French courses at community colleges and led study abroad programs for students in France. Her interests include nineteenth-, twentieth- and twenty-first-century French literature, Gender Studies, Second Language Acquisition and French for Specific Purposes (FOS).
